Geoffrey's Poems

A Night under the Stars

The sun is beating against my skin,
Sweat dripping down my forehead.
Finally we arrive at the campsite.
Setting up the our bright green,
And blue plastic tents.
Smell of smoky fire fills the air,
Mixed with the fragrance of bushes and flowers.
As I collect more firewood,
I see my sister happily stomping around.
My mother on the other hand,
Looking like a maniac,
Trying to get away from all those bugs.
All of a sudden,
I can sense the aroma of food.
Roasted marshmallows and hotdogs,
Were being cooked over the bon fire.
While my sister is stroking her hair,
I turn on my music player,
And listen to the finest Cambodian pop music.

A Beautiful Day

A cool morning breeze had a great scent,
Of steamed dumpling and smoked teriyaki sticks.
Outside the rigid fence,
Children in colorful t-shirts and shorts laughing about.
With beautiful girls singing on our block,
The streets are filled with happiness.
The teeny tiny café around the corner unlocked,
Consisted of French bread and iced coffee.
As I strolled in to the park,
Grounds were lush and green even at dark,
Filled with bushes and flowers.
The unstable bridge across the stream was gone,
I dipped my big toe into the water,
Slowly and gently I walked upon.
Late afternoon was soon approaching,
Adults were rushing home to prepare dinner.
An aroma of fried garlic and cooked rice,
Rises into my nostrils.
A nice meal of rice and salted pork,
Is just waiting to be devoured.

Mansion

A mansion contains many more rooms than others,

Having each of them enormously big.

In each room,

Has furniture made from premium wood,

Such as a mahogany table made for dining.

http://www.seeing-stars.com/OC/Julie&CalebMansion(400).jpg
Ceilings are very spacious and unusually high,

Leaving enough room for leeway.

Floors have been nicely polished,

Making it impossible to get a splinter.

While cooking in the kitchen ceiling,

The electric fan spins continuously,

Carrying familiar aromas all around the house.

From what I can see,

These unique features,

Truly embodies a superb mansion.

Keano's Poems

Wonderful Home

by Keano O.

I am thrilled
To be in our wonderful home
I am free
Free as A dragon flying high above
A green Paradise
At home I am free
I don’t have to do any chores
I can chill
And do whatever I want
I am blessed
with a gifted imagination
And I dream
I will survive
As long as I am at home
our wonderful home

Rock concert

by Keano O.

I am an ace
At playing bass
I dream of jamming
And playing live
With my band
I am thrilled
No longer do I pretend
I can turn it into reality
I go onstage
And I am greeted
With Charming smiles
And I play
And I feel superior
Like a dragon
flying high above the city

Shino's Poems

Shino

Raindrops

Raindrops beat on the window panes,

Inviting me to

Go outside and play!

I walk with a little more

Bounce in my step

As excitement rises upon me.

Barging out the door,

Without wearing my shoes, I

Skip down the stairs, humming a song I

Heard at school.

Bouncing out the main gate,

I sense the raindrops splatter on my bare skin.

Dancing gracefully, naturally, and quietly,

I skip around with the lively raindrops.

Leaving my mind with all the struggles in my room,

I feel liberated,

I feel free…

Rain is a blessing.

Night market

The boulevard sings with the
Buzz of motorcycle engines,
Children and teenagers
Bounce and laugh as the driver pedals through
The congested city streets.
Sellers bellow at passing shoppers, advertising food and clothing
That pierces through my fragile ears.
Countless people dressed in
Colorful t-shirts and shorts, crowded,
Trying to make their way through,
Slightly bumping their shoulders.
Neon colored banners blind my eyes
As I slowly find my way out of
The complex maze.
Smell of smoked wood and honey fills the
Arid summer air.

A tingling sensation dashes through my back and
Somehow, I feel safe here;
With all the noise and glee
It feels like home.

William's Poems

Jungfrau

Year after year, people come to praise her,
The solitary belle above the grassland

In the cool morning breeze
I rode on a train along the trails
Winding up into beautiful puffy white clouds
Sledging down the glacier with mist all around
I screamed silently, feeling the snow underneath

Inside the ice cave I beheld
Sculptures of seals, penguins, and eagles
Awaiting visitors with callous looks
I wondered how they had been frozen
Into amazing postures

Back in my warm chamber again,
I can’t help but ponder upon the journey
Forever Jungfrau stands up there
With her perfectly arched eyebrows
Watching the world pass by

Cherating Beach

Here at the tranquil coastline
Some seek for relaxation
Others enjoy the fun activities

Submerging in the silver, shimmering water
I beheld boats sailing
And people paddling canoes across the bay
All over the beach,
People enjoying the magical land of sea water

Once in a while, monkeys appear upon rooftops and grasslands
Their interesting postures and squeaking sounds
Grab the attention of nearby visitors

For five days,
I relaxed and ate delicious foods
From Western cakes to steaming bowls of Japanese noodles
I can have any food of my choice

In the evening,
People gathered in the auditorium
Prepared for the exciting show

Daniel T's Poems

Happy Days
By: Daniel T.
The sun shone brightly as the city awakes early in the morning
Heat waves rising from the ground
Frogs hopping freely everywhere
With little children kicking soccer balls with bare feet
The cheerful bounce and laugh that comes out inside me
Swinging my legs back and forth
Impatient!
Waiting to slurp the broth instantaneously
Pretty attractive girls
Chubby cheeks, and apple cheeks.
Street lights flickered on and off
Blinking mysteriously at me
I hopped out of the Chair
Jumped on to the buzzing motorcycle
And zoomed back Home
Happy Days!

Sunrise on the Cruise
By: Daniel T.
Everyone woke up early to take advantage of the cool morning breeze.
I bounce and laugh on the cruise
Waiting for the sun to greet us
Playing cards intensively
We enjoyed the coolness of the morning sea wind
And the dancing waves of the ocean
Seeing beautiful puffy white clouds gathering together
As we saw the yellow spec rising up from the horizon
The sun was like attractive girls
Winking at us
As if it was greeting us
“Good Morning!”
The sun was flickering far away from us
The Ocean and the sun was like a wallpaper
With a happy family standing on the deck of a cruise

A mystical Dream
By: Daniel T.
On a warm loving night,
I was laying there with the stars shining bright,
With cozy breeze holding me tight
Seeing lanterns float up to the sky,
Like candles flickering amazingly across the sky,
Sending messages to the generous angels
On top of the puffy white clouds
I see them bounce and laugh
I sang along happily on their behalf
Hoping my dreams will come true
I prayed and laughed
Enjoying every moment
I hear voices whisper in my ears
I woke up in my beloved home
As the beautiful dream slowly melted into my mind

Grace's Poems

South Africa

Running across the everlasting plains
Bouncing and laughing until my stomach doubles over with pain
Rolling around over the dry green grass
Staring up at the clouds flying fast
Swinging on the trees
Watching the world below us pass
Sometimes when I feel brave
I let my arms loose and flapping against the wind
I will never forget
Trompie who was loved for his generous heart
And will never forget
South Africa even after we part

Food courts

My mouth waters as I walk down
The numerous food carts that are lined up
From ripe mangoes to sugarcanes
From fried fish to candy canes
My stomach rumbles with hunger
But I sucked in the smell of
Of the familiar aromas a bit longer
I swift back and forth between my varied choices
The cricket noises
Made my decision
I walked towards the glazed green crickets
Crunching down my snack
I smile as I swallow back
My last delight

Frederick's Poems

Memories of My Family

The world is quiet and unhurried
We look down on the busy streets
Living in colonial buildings that are juxtaposed
I like to sit on our balcony
I love the stories Pa tells
My eyes beam at him
I watched with fascination
Knowing Pa to be brilliant
His all-powerful knowledge
My memories of Pa…
I remember my family…
Ma is known for her beauty
My sister is already beautiful at fourteen
My brother was nicknamed the little monkey
Everybody adored us
Until my family was taken away…
I miss the cool morning breeze…
I miss my family…

Pho Noodle

In the cool morning breeze…
I smell the aroma of noodle soup
I smell the garlic, the broth
I hear the slurping of hot soup
I hear the clang and clatter of spoons
I watched people shovel noodles into their mouth
I watched with fascination…
The air filled with beef scent
Make my stomach rumble with hunger
I can’t wait any longer
I see kids squirming around in the shop
I see people greeting the boss of the shop
As if they are old friends
I watched charming smiles on customers
I want to have possession of beef noodles
But I have no money
I wish I can eat Pho…

At Mountain Top

On the mountain top
The sunlight beams at me
It is very spacious on the mountain
The mountain had an ultramodern look
I watch with fascination
I feel the cool morning breeze
I hear birds chirping
I see monkeys climbing on trees
I see squirrels squirming around
The mountain is the place to relax
Nobody bothers anybody
The world is quiet and unhurried
People have their own important conversations
A beautiful look at the colonial buildings that are juxtaposed
Mountain top is a place filled with wonders
