South Africa
Running across the everlasting plains
Bouncing and laughing until my stomach doubles over with pain
Rolling around over the dry green grass
Staring up at the clouds flying fast
Swinging on the trees
Watching the world below us pass
Sometimes when I feel brave
I let my arms loose and flapping against the wind
I will never forget
Trompie who was loved for his generous heart
And will never forget
South Africa even after we part

Food courts

My mouth waters as I walk down
The numerous food carts that are lined up
From ripe mangoes to sugarcanes
From fried fish to candy canes
My stomach rumbles with hunger
But I sucked in the smell of
Of the familiar aromas a bit longer
I swift back and forth between my varied choices
The cricket noises
Made my decision
I walked towards the glazed green crickets
Crunching down my snack
I smile as I swallow back
My last delight
